UNDERWEAR SALE! ZIPLOC SALE!

GIRLS AND WOMEN'S BRIEFS

UPDATE 7-31:  Target is offering a $5 gift card when you buy 3 Fruit of the Loom items, through Saturday, August 4th. If you also have a Target red card . . . that's quite a deal on packs that are already at rock-bottom back-to-school prices.  Good online and in stores.

It looks like the 2018 back-to-school sales on underwear are beginning!  Fruit of the Loom 12-packs of girls' briefs at Target.com are $5.97 (just under 50¢ per pair).  Walmart also has FOTL girls' briefs for the same per-pair price.

Women's sizes of Hanes briefs are in "Extreme Value" 12-packs for $9.97 (83¢ each) at Walmart--a great deal!!

We use girls' sizes 10 to 16, and mostly smaller women's sizes.  The only style we use is  BRIEFS (classic or low-rise).

If you're wanting to get some in a store or online, or encourage your friends to,  or if you're considering having an underwear drive or challenge as suggested in the previous blog entry, this is about half of the regular price.

At Target, you can have items purchased online sent to your store for you with no shipping charge.  If you buy six packages or more, they'll ship to your home free. If you have a red card, you get a 5% discount and I think shipping is free on most items.

Days for Girls celebrates their 10-year birthday in November, and I'm hoping to have a celebration at our November workday, similar to Glenda's and my birthday party in March.  If you'd like to contribute some underwear as a birthday present, this would be the time to get the best prices.

ZIPLOCS ON SALE TOO!

An update--I just saw that Costco has gallon freezer Ziplocs on sale.  Another idea for a DFG 10th birthday gift!  This is a great price--it works out to a hair under 10¢ each.

PERIOD TABOOS IN PAKISTAN

In Pakistan, 44% of women and girls do not have access to menstrual supplies to manage their periods--at school, at home, at work.

This BBC NEWS article tells how 2 women and their Recircle Cup are hoping to change that.

DAYS FOR GIRLS IN NEPAL

It is in some parts of Nepal where the cruel (and illegal) custom of Chaappaudi is still practiced.  Here's a post that shows how Days for Girls kits and education change the lives of girls and women there.

Nai shares her experience.  She's living proof of the power of Days for Girls Ambassador of Women's Health education and local Ambassadors of Women's Health DfG. They matter as much as DfG Kits. Thank you to all DfG supporters for making so much good possible.

Days for Girls Nepal
“Namastey , my name is Nai shova shahi and I’m 45 years old. I live in manma 2. In our generation, it was so difficult. When we go to take bath in public tap they used to warn us not to touch them and have to wait long to get our turn. When blood overflows and stain were seen in our clothes people used to tell us that we are so unhygenic and impure. My mother in law used to scold me, saying our god will get angry and not allow us to enter inside our own home. When my mother and father in law told me to stay outside home because I was menstruating I had to obey them. I won’t touch water source (hand pump) till 7 days.
Now you all have came into our village and given training related to menstruation and also distributed reusable pad. Before, we were not able to manage our menstrual hygiene. But after this program, girls and women are now using panty and this beautiful pad. I have no habit of wearing panty . but now we are used to with pad and panty. This program have made us easier to manage our menstruation. Days for girls have come to our village and reached many schools ,women circles and trying to reach every girl and women. I would like to thank days for girls from inner core of my heart for helping us to bring a change in our life.”
