If so, you're probably aware that after overlapping your perimeter serging for an inch or two, you need to secure the thread ends. We've tried many methods, and I think we've now come up with the fastest and easiest method. You need to use one color thread for your needles and another for the loopers in your serger. Please still try to have both thread colors coordinate with the liner color. Watch this short video to see how simple and quick this is! If you're not doing the knotting yourself, please put a note with your stack telling us which color thread is in the loopers.

FABRIC SCRAPS = A FUNDRAISER?
As I cut into the lovely fabric donated for our bags and shields, there are always leftovers, pieces too small for bags, shields for even pockets. I've been cutting them into strips of various widths. Tubsful.
I'd like us to try making a string quilt out of these strips, as a fundraiser. If you can sew a straight seam with a 1/4" seam allowance, please join me in making some blocks on Saturday. They'll be foundation pieced on phonebook page squares I'll provide to you with the fabric strips. I'm hoping this scrappy quilt will showcase the beautiful fabrics we use, and can be raffled off to raise money for our future expenses.

Woohoo! It's official...DfG now has 1,000 Chapters and Teams! Way to go to everyone who's making an incredible effort and changing the game for "Every Girl. Everywhere. Period." Woohoo, indeed!
CONTINUING DONATIONS
I speak to various group several times a year. For some time after each presentation, I hear from some of them who would like to make in-kind donations to our chapter. I often don't think of grabbing my camera until I've put the gifts away, but this time I can show you the sweet selection of fat quarters donated by the daughter of Virginia. who heard me speak at her PEO meeting. Great, cheerful, stain-hiding colors, and such a lovely presentation in the cute striped bag! Thanks so much to everybody who thinks of us for their fabric (AND other) donations.
Our July workday is on Saturday, the 1st, at Our Sewing Room at 5th & Main in Springfield. Stop by for as much time as you have available anytime after 10:30. Please bring your own sewing machine or serger if you want to do those tasks. Other things to think of, depending on your preferred job--sharp scissors, rotary cutter with sharp blade, seam ripper, extra empty bobbin, clips, etc. Our Sewing Room has a fridge available, and that area of downtown has a great variety of eateries if you'd like to go out for lunch.
OH, and finally we have a workday coinciding with one of "our" special days. Not DFG's birthday, not International Day of the Girl, not Menstrual Hygiene Day. July 1st is NATIONAL UNDERWEAR DAY!! Do something special--we'd love to have you celebrate by spending the day with us!
I'd urge you to go buy packs of briefs at Target or Walmart, or online, but the prices haven't dropped yet to their annual low (<$6 for 12 pair). Gift cards or cash work though, and can be used when the best deals occur. I keep thinking of the team leaders telling us what a BIG DEAL the briefs we include in the kits are. Imagine trying to deal with your period, not only with nothing particularly absorbent available to use, but also with no undies to hold anything in place.
